Piping Engineering and Design

The Onyx piping engineering and design team has extensive experience in design and construction of mechanical systems in the process industries, including:

Because the Onyx piping engineering team is significantly experienced in construction, we are able to design systems high in constructability and operability. Our piping design team has a rolling average of over 10 years of revamp design experience, and can analyze and design pipe support systems to utilize existing facility parameters.

The team is committed to project quality, and will not complete and deliver design until all quality verifications are confirmed. We routinely convert out-of-service piping to save clients money and time. The design is complete after field surveying, measuring and checking.

Because pipe engineering occurs prior to release of design, the final design has met stress engineering requirements. Part of our success in piping design has been working within an operating congested area, especially in the field of modular design. The Onyx piping team has engineered and designed offshore topsides and process modules for overseas deployment at a Middle East lube oil re-refining plant.

Refinery Technology, Inc.

Onyx has formed an alliance with Refinery Technology, Inc. (www.refinerytech.com) which increases our ability to assess extreme high temperature and stress systems. RTI provides Onyx with finite element analysis of old and new piping systems. With the support of RTI, Onyx can address clients’ problems with large bore piping, unique metallurgy, and under extreme high temperature and pressure.

SimplexGrinnell, LP

Onyx has formed an alliance with SimplexGrinnell, L.P. (www.simplexgrinnell.com) to perform early engineering through detailed design of NFPA compliant deluge systems from the supply through to the nozzle. Onyx’s geographical expertise combined with SimplexGrinnell’s NFPA/NICET certified technicians provides a winning combination.

PWC Industries, Inc.

Onyx has crafted an alliance with Corpus Christi, Texas-based PWC Industries, Inc. (www.pwcindustries.com), an industry leader in fabrication of ASME code pressure vessels, oil and gas separators, scrubbers, pulsation bottles, custom fabrication, process piping, and fabrication and assembly of various skid units. With this alliance, Onyx can offer its clients full modular turnkey services to the upstream and midstream energy sectors.
