Pipelines and Terminals

Onyx engineers and designers have performed numerous projects to improve transportation capabilities of terminals, add new loading/unloading facilities, and define terminal operations. Since being established in 1992, Onyx has routinely helped clients improve their shipping capability for marine and land-based systems.

Pipeline projects: Onyx has developed a team of highly qualified consultants to provide full pipeline project capability. Onyx has provided process definition, AFE funding estimates and detailed design for pump station additions, scraper/launcher additions and pipeline laterals across the U.S. These projects include environmental impact, permitting, surveying and design of infrastructure and pipelines to help clients meet market demand.
Terminal reconfiguration projects: Onyx has performed several projects in the last five years to reconfigure clients’ terminal facilities to increase shipping capacity or change product shipped. Onyx has provided this increased or new capability by identifying and coordinating requirements across several client facilities throughout Texas. We have also has provided options assessment, front-end engineering, detailed design, and startup support. Onyx has fully supported automation system cutover during startup. Our success includes coordination among the client’s process unit staff, terminal staff, and pipeline teams.
Asset definition projects: Onyx engineers and designers have been actively capturing new assets for clients, and have developed process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation drawings for clients’ newly acquired assets. Onyx has also provided operational assessment as part of this service to define the manually operated component of terminal operation to prepare it for automation.
